+27 Perfect Lowkey First Date Ideas That’ll Impress
I LOVE first dates! The cute outfits, the yummy smelling perfumes, and getting ready to go to… well… that’s what we’re gonna get to today! Picking the right date activity can be stressful. Here are some perfect lowkey first date ideas that you and your date will enjoy so much! You can pick based on how much you want to spend, what type of activities you want to do, and the environment you want to be in.
Lowkey First Date Ideas
Picnic
Picnics are a great idea because it’s out in the open so you’re safe, it’s affordable, and it gives you quality time to get to know each other. This is a really cute first date idea because he could bring some of his favorite snacks and you could bring some of your favorite snacks. If one of you has a small speaker you can also jam out and put each other on to different music.
Concert Date
I recently went on a concert date and it was SO much fun! It’s a great time to vibe out to music, stare into each other’s eyes, and also see a bit of their personality. Do they just sit and enjoy? Do they dance a little bit? Do they pull you in closer? I think about these little interactions and they give me an idea of what to expect if we start a relationship!
Ice Cream Date
I went on an ice cream date and I feel like it’s super similar to thinking about a coffee date. They’re so lowkey! You don’t feel obligated to be there too long if you aren’t vibing with the guy. A sweet treat with hopefully sweet company.
Gym Date
First of all, seeing him in gym clothes will be super cute! I personally want someone who lives a pretty active lifestyle so I would love to have a cute gym moment to get to know someone more. You can spot each other for different workouts and talk in between to get to know each other.
Put on a cute and functional workout outfit and have a good time! You can grab some smoothies afterwards.
Go To Dinner
I know dinner dates are controversial for some people but I honestly love them! I’m a big conversationalist and a big foodie so getting to know someone over some good food is always a fun time for me.
Mini Golf
With so many new mini golf places popping up, this could be a fun sporty option for a first date. When I’ve gone on mini golf dates there’s a bit of cute competitiveness in the air and I somehow always lose :,( lol.
If the first round goes well you could either do another round or go get some ice cream or a bite to eat after!
Coffee Date
This is a classic one of my lowkey first date ideas that I’ve done once or twice. It’s fun because you get to fully focus on the other person and get to know them. It’s also one of the smartest of the lowkey first date ideas because if you aren’t feeling them aka not having a good time, you can cut it off. Whereas with a dinner date or any other date, you’re already investing a lot of energy and time.
Also, I want to note, if you’re ever not feeling safe, appreciated, or comfortable you should politely leave. Never feel like you have to stay because it’s the “nice” or “respectful” thing to do. Protect yourself and your peace especially if you are on a date with someone who seems like a jerk.
Walking Date
Even though I live in Texas and we don’t have the stunning mountains and scenery like Washington or Colorado, we still have a few decent trails! There’s a beautiful trail by a lake that I absolutely love. You have these beautiful grand mansions on one side and the lake on the other side.
It’s pretty busy on the weekends but a chill walk is a great way to get to know someone while also getting some steps in!
Make sure you or your date chooses somewhere with a lot of open space and somewhere that may be a little busy. Even though you got enough good vibes from him that you wanted to meet him IRL doesn’t mean he can’t be sketched in person.
So don’t choose some hidden trail where no one is really seeing you. Choose a place where you know people will be all around you.
Farmers Market Date
There was a moment on social media where people talked about Jacob Elordi always taking girls on farmers market dates which I think is hilarious. But I would love to go on a farmers market date! It’s not expensive at all, you get to talk to each other and pick out some pretty flowers or produce!
Art Festival Date
I went on a date to an art festival after we watched a movie and grabbed some food. It was my first time ever going to an art festival but it was so much fun! So much art (that neither of us could afford atm), live music, and yummy treats all around!
Arcade Date
This was one of my favorite dates I’ve been on this year! This super cute arcade has two floors and also had fun drinks to have while we played the games. I never thought I’d want to go on an arcade date until I went.
You’ll feel like a kid again! And if they’re playful at heart as well it will be such a memorable and cute experience.
Museum Date
I haven’t been on a museum date but I have gone to museums with some of my girlfriends and it’s always a chill time. Some museums are free so it could be coupled with another activity before or after. But it’s a nice public place to spark up meaningful conversations with a date.
Immersive Art Exhibit
I went to Meow Wolf for the first time recently and it was SO cool! There was beautiful art, secret rooms, and tunnels that led to more awesome art. There’s only a handful around the country, but if you have a fun immersive experience like Meow Wolf it would be so fun for a first date!
Drive-In Movie Theater
Movie dates are another controversial first date idea because you can’t do what during the movie? … Talk and get to know each other. However, a drive-in movie date could be a good compromise. You have the option to watch or… to roll up the windows and have … a good conversation.
Comedy Show
I LOVE comedy! And if you do, it could be a great option for a first date. Typically there’s free time before the show to have some conversation but there isn’t a lot of time to converse which is a con of this idea. But, what better way to bond with someone than over laughter?
When I went to a comedy show on a date it was after we had dinner. So this one could be treated as an add-on to something else.
Karaoke Night
I have not done a karaoke night date… yet. But it sounds like a super silly and fun date idea that puts a spin on your typical “Let’s grab some drinks” date. You get to see their personality and see if you two will make some baby Beyonce or Ariana Grande.
Sip and Paint
There are quite a few spots where you can paint beautiful masterpieces while sippin’ on some wine. This is such a cool and lowkey idea that not many people think about.
You can critique and joke about each other’s art, you can have a lot of conversation, and you have a keepsake that you both can hang in the house when you get married. You never know! 😉
Trivia Night
Local bars and coffee shops sometimes hold fun trivia nights! If you’re both intellectual or just want to have some fun testing your knowledge this could be a fun way to learn more about each other.
Escape Room
Escape rooms are super fun but can also be stressful. This can be a great way to see your chemistry and how you’ll solve different problems. Every time I’ve done an escape room, I’ve learned sooo much about the people I go with. How easily do they get stressed? Do they have good problem-solving skills? Can they work together or are they very confidently independent?
Antique Shopping
This is more for the girlies but it can be fun to go shopping for antique things.
Rollerblading Date
A rollerblading date could be fun as well. Indoor skating or outdoor rollerblading is a way to get good exercise while also getting to know someone.
Biking Date
At the trail I mentioned earlier, there are a lot of bike riders. This is a chill and active date that can bring joy and release some endorphins for good conversation.
Speakeasy
Speakeasies are super cool and spark up immediate conversation. I went to a fun speakeasy bar that had a movie playing, a wall full of different liquor, and chatter all around. It was a lively place to meet someone new.
Bowling
Bowling is another classic! You can break into conversation to avoid any awkwardness. You don’t have to be good at it, you just gotta have fun! There’s usually a bar or food options that are reasonably priced.
Dog Walk
If you both have furry friends, this can be a great way to break the ice. If the dog loves you that’s extremely helpful! If not… then first impressions aren’t eeeeeverything. Find a nice public trail to walk the dogs and chat over some smoothie or coffee.
Go Karts
Bring out your inner child and race in go-karts! There are adult go-kart places that will bring out your competitiveness and need for speed!
