If you use Google Calendar (or any calendar) as much as I do, you love to have all your events and assignments in one place. It makes me sad that I didn’t know how to do this until my senior year of college. But this simple and useful technique to sync your Canvas calendar to your Google Calendar saves you so much time and energy. Mostly because you don’t have to log in to your Canvas to check your class times and assignments you have due.
Connecting your Canvas calendar to your Google Calendar is not obvious, so I decided to make a simple and easy-to-follow guide to sync your calendars so you always have the important stuff in one place.
The best part about this college hack is that it is automatically updated whenever your professor changes a due date or adds an assignment! Finding good ways to save you time allows you to get more done and stress less. So let’s get into this tutorial! This post is all about connecting your Canvas Calendar to Google Calendar.
First, you need to login into your Canvas account.
Then press the Calendar button on the Canvas sidebar to get to the Canvas Calendar.
Then, navigate your cursor to the right sidebar. You will see a button called, Calendar Feed on the right sidebar. This will enable us to get the Calendar Feed link we will place into Google Calendar.
Next, copy the Calendar Feed Link. This link is the only way we can automatically sync our Canvas Calendar to our Google Calendar. This is also really great because at any time an assignment due date changes or a new assignment is added, the calendar will automatically be imported!
Now, you need to go to your Google Calendar account. The first step here is clicking the Settings Menu. This will help us find the section that we put our Canvas calendar into!
In the Settings Menu, press From URL. This section is where we will import our Canvas Calendar Feed link we copied in the beginning.
Finally, you can paste our Calendar Feed Link that we copied from Canvas in step 3. This is how we can “copy” our Canvas Calendar onto our Google Calendar. It’s simply that easy!
And you’re done! Now your Canvas Calendar Feed is synced into your Google Calendar. The best part is every time your professor changes a due date or adds an assignment, it will show up here without you needing to change anything! How amazing is that?!
This simple way to sync your Canvas Calendar to Google Calendar only takes about 5 minutes and it saves you HOURS of importing every single assignment and class.
