+9 Best Self Care Apps That Changed My Life
There are not many self care apps that I use everyday because good ones are honestly hard to find. Some self care apps are too expensive, some require too much from the user, or they just aren’t a great fit. You want apps that bring you joy and have a certain je nais se quois that makes you feel completely zen.
So in this list you will find some of the absolute best self care apps that I use every single day. These apps help me de-stress and learn to be more in tune with who I am, what I believe in, and the people I care the most about. I know you will find apps that become a major part of your routine after you read this list. This post is all about self care apps.
self care apps for the memories
how we feel
This app is one of my favorites (…which is why it is the first on the list). I have longed for an app that doesn’t take me much time to do, but it’s super impactful. My friend urged me to download this multiple times. I finally caved and was pleasantly surprised by how much I love to check in to the app.
You tap an emotion, how you feel in that moment, and write a few words or a few sentences on why you feel that way. It is tracking your emotions every day and you can see trends and help target issues you may be having over periods of time. This is what I want to show my therapist when I start going 🤣. Anyway, if you want a quick way to journal your emotions, check out how we feel.
Main takeaway: Diary for your emotions. Only takes 3-5 minutes of your day.
daylio
This app is one of my favorites (…which is why it is the second on the list). It’s a very simple and easy-to-use diary app. The reason I love it so much is because it’s aesthetically pleasing, lets you update it throughout the day, and has super cute emojis to show how you feel.
You can set a password on the app to keep all of your diary entries safe. Right when you enter the app, you let the app know how you are currently feeling. Then you write as much as you want to save precious thoughts and memories for the day. I find it so relaxing and easy at the end of the day to type. It’s comforting to know that I can always look back and see exactly how I felt oI also love writing in a journal but I love how convenient it is to track everything at any time of the day with the app!
Main takeaway: Always have a place to journal your thoughts on the go at any time.
1 Second Everyday: Video Diary
Oooo a classic. 1 Second Everyday is a wonderful app that I recommend for keeping fond memories of experiences and people you love. This app lets you use 1 second of a video or two every day. Every day you upload or record from the app a one-second video. The normal mode allows you to freely upload up to two video snips a day while project mode allows you to record videos for trips or any event you want separate from the normal feed.
At the end of the year, you can download the complete video from the year and watch your year back in less than 5 minutes! I don’t use this every day but it doesn’t matter because I don’t have to be on the app to take the videos. I can add entries from videos I have on my phone. So you don’t have to stress about using the app every single day.
Main takeaway: Record and save small snippets of everyday and reflect on the year.
self care apps to reach your health goals
health
Something that iPhones and Android users have access to is the health app. This app allows you to track so many helpful things from your health records, to how many steps you’re getting in daily, to blood oxygen levels when you sleep. It is an all-encompassing hub for your health needs. If you have an apple watch you can connect apps to your health app to keep up with all of your stats.
Main takeaway: All-encompassing hub for all of you health records and health apps.
strava
Strava allows you to track your runs, rides and swims. You can create challenges with friends and compete, or you can go on a solo workout and track to route and time for your workout. You can find new places to workout through the app and you can track your progress over time. My mom uses this app and I love getting pictures from her walk with our dog RJ.
Main takeaway: Track your runs, bike rides, and swims on one app.
youtube
With the countless workout apps available nowadays, I find myself always returning to Youtube for three reasons. The videos are FREE to watch however many times I want, some professionals and amateurs have amazing workouts to follow along with, and I can cast the videos on my TV.
Let me know if you want a post of my favorite YouTube workouts 🏃🏾♀️.
Main takeaway: YouTube has it all. Workouts on YouTube are free, helpful, and fun.
self care apps to lift your spirit
Motivation
This app does wonders for my mental health. It’s a super simple app that I use as a widget on my iPhone. So every time I unlock my phone, I am given a new quote that inspires me and helps me stay optimistic. I’ll be honest and admit that I have seen some of the same quotes circulate time and time again. But, I don’t really mind it because they are sweet reminders that I don’t mind seeing more than once.
Main takeaway: Motivating quotes and sayings every single time you unlock your phone.
self care apps to be present in the moment
offscreen
This app is really cool! We all spend way too much time on our phones than we want to admit. So offscreen is an app that monitors how much time you spend on your phone. Now, iPhone users may be thinking… don’t we already have a function that tells us how much time we spend on our phones? The answer is yes… but the major difference is that Offscreen provides a lot of insight into your phone usage, sensors who you can text or call, and it stops you from breaking your screen time goals.
I’m super embarrassed to say that the first day I used this app it said I checked my phone every three minutes and I picked up my phone 20 times… TWENTY times. O M G. To my defense, I did download it during the evening and I finished my work for the day but it’s still embarrassing I default to using my phone so much.
This is an amazing self-care app for me because I think twice before picking up my phone because there are actual consequences of staying on my phone too long. It inspires me to do other things that don’t require me to be on my phone or checking it every 10 minutes. Upgrade to have Pro features for only $2.99!
Major takeaway: Being mindful of screen time will allow for more creativity, time with others, and opportunities to work on things that matter to you.
self care apps to help you track your habits
aloe bud
This self-care app is your new pocket companion. Aloe Bud is an app that you check in on goals and activities you want to get done every day. Categories can be anything from drinking water to reminding you to move, to even reminding you to breathe (controlled breathing). If you want, the app will give you gentle reminders to reach your targets. I love how aesthetically pleasing this app is and how easy to use it is.
Major takeaway: If you’re looking for a simple and cute way to track your habits throughout the day, Aloe Bud will be a perfect fit for you.
notion
This app is lovely. Notion is a great app because you can put all of your things in one place. To-do lists, journals, kanbans to improve productivity, and literally so many more things. So this app has definitely helped with my self-care needs.
Major takeaway: All in one productivity software to place your habits, to-dos, journaling, and more!
