The Best Productivity Apps You Need To Know About

I think something we can all agree on is how valuable our time is. Apps are convenient and time-saving tools that help us get more done. So I wanted to make a post all about the best productivity apps you need to download now!

Most of these apps are FREE. And ALL of these apps are meant to save you time and give you options to access popular online tools through your phone! So check out this list of amazing apps. I hope you find a couple of new additions to help you save time and get more things done. This post is all about the best productivity apps.

Oh Bother

Many things improve my productivity, but the most important is having quiet time to myself to focus on what I need to get done. I am currently at home due to the pandemic (like many many others). While I love my family, they can add to the many distractions I already have daily.

Oh Bother is an app that allows you to let everyone know if you are in class, in a meeting, on a call with friends, taking a nap, or even when you just don’t want to be bothered at the moment. It’s amazing!

It’s a friendly way to create boundaries so you can be more productive.

Notion

The number one productivity app that I swear by is Notion. This productivity platform is worth all the hype it has been getting recently. I have soo many things in Notion that I check every day.

You can create to-do lists, calendars, kanbans, notebooks, grocery lists, reading lists, movie lists, daily journals, and literally so many more things! I love how everything can be on one platform and I can organize it and color-code it however I want. Plus, there’s an offline version so you always have your information on the go!

The best part about Notion is that it is accessible online. I have the app on my phone, on my laptop, and if I don’t have either of those for some reason, I can log online through any computer!

Google Apps

These are the five (now) six Google apps I keep in a folder on my phone! All of them save me so much time.

productivity apps

Gmail (Free)

I have a couple of Gmail accounts so this is a nice place to keep them all.

Google Photos (Free)

When my iCloud storage filled up, I needed a new place to store my photos. Google Photos is AMAZING because every picture or video you take is automatically imported into your Google Photos account (you can turn this off if you want). So I don’t have to pay for iCloud storage and I get to keep all of my photos and videos in one place!

Google Docs (Free)

I have quite a few group projects throughout the year for school, and this free platform is always our go-to for keeping information for our projects.

Google Sheets (Free)

Even though I have a Microsoft bundle with my university, I can’t resist the free and accessible everywhere google platforms. Google Sheets is just like Excel! I use Google Sheets for a couple of things. Just like the rest of these apps I love that I can access them everywhere I go. And, I can easily collaborate with people.

Google Keep (Free)

This is a note and list app that I no longer use, but I know it is an amazing app I recommend. You can capture ideas and notes by typing them or saying them as a voice note. This app is very customizable as well because you can color-code notes and collaborate with friends and family. It’s very easy to use!

Google Drive (Free)

This is the hub for all of my documents. It allows you to organize all of your Google files into one place for easy access and better organization.

Forest

This app is life-changing! I feel like I throw this app into blog posts a lot, haha. But this app literally changed the productivity game for me. Read my full review on the Forest app here.

Basically, this app restricts you from leaving the app on your phone while you study. Before this app, I may have turned my phone off but would find some reason to turn it back on and go on it. I also used to put my phone in a different room sometimes. But, using Forest is my favorite method now because I can’t access anything on my phone while I am completing a task. And, I grow trees while I’m studying. It’s a very fun way to boost your productivity.

You can also use this app for cleaning, working out, working, reading, during social times, and even sleeping.

Motivation

I included this app because this serves as a constant reminder that being more productive is a process and if I stay consistent, my hard work will pay off.

Basically, this is a quotes app and it’s FREE! I mean, you can pay for it if you want but I don’t and I feel like free users still get all the perks.

With my free subscription, I can:

  • Have motivational quotes as notifications
  • Change the theme of my quotes (background image, font, color)
  • Have a Motivation app widget on my home screen

Check it out. It’s literally amazing to see motivating content every time I unlock my phone.

1Password

Never forget a password again! With everything you’re working on, you don’t have time to memorize many different passwords when you can keep them all safely in one place. I think this is one of the best productivity apps you can have.

I used to rely on iPhone settings passwords keeper but I have since learned that all my passwords are not always there. So using 1Password has allowed me to put all my passwords in one place. Some of these passwords include email, debit card login info, various websites, passports, and any other password you need to keep.

Kindle App

While I thoroughly enjoy having a physical book to read, book apps have made things so much more accessible! I love the Kindle app to read my books. I buy the books through Amazon. As you can see, when you search up any book it will show you an option to buy the book for Kindle if it applies to the book you want.

Hack: Sometimes, books that you would buy through Books on Apple are more expensive than if you buy them on Amazon for the Kindle. With the Kindle app, you can also get credits towards your next book purchase. So definitely check it out!

Cheatsheet

This app is all about shortcuts. We can always use a couple of quick ways to remember important things. This can hold all the important things you may need at random times that you don’t ever think to memorize or keep track of. Things such as your license plate number, hotel room codes, locker combinations, luggage combinations, ID numbers, and literally any other thing you may need. You can even put in a directions passcode if needed.

This app is so cool and I knew it would save some of us who don’t even think to remember these important codes because this will definitely save you some time.

Scanner App

The scanner app is essential if you need to upload files for school, work, or any documents online. This app is easy and best of all, it’s free! I still use this in college (for math courses where they need to see our work and for uploading documents in general) and I know it will be a big help for you too.

Like always, I hope you found some great and free resources to boost your productivity! I use multiple apps from this list every single day which is why I believe they are the BEST productivity apps out there.

Let me know if there are other awesome suggestions that you consider the best productivity apps on your phone!
